JEANNIE LAWSON, ARTIST

Statement

Jeannie Lawson is an artist who is inspired by nature, conservation, sustainability, energy, space, water, and the connection between man and his domain.  She studied portrait painting with Ron Sherr and has painted people and animals as well as nature for the past decade.

Jeannie Lawson is moved by the ocean, the world population, the need to feed and sustain life and the possibilities of life elsewhere.  The interconnectivity of man to man, insect and animal to man and man to earth is a focus of her work. She has a special connection to pollinators, and the earth we live on and our stewardship of it, as well as the exploration of the limitless possibilities which surrounds us whether near, or far away in space.

Jeannie Lawson accepts private commissions.

Jeannie Lawson is an artist and has been since early childhood.  She attended Parsons School of Design and graduated with a degree in interior design.  She developed an interest in painting interiors and studied trompe l’oeil with Leonard Pardon and Jo Anne Day.  She worked as a trompe l’oeil artist and did faux bois, faux marbre, cloudy skies and murals, painted furniture and screens, floor design, decorative paintings, gold leaf work and wall glazing .  A client of hers asked for paintings of individuals which inspired her to go further with her art work and she began studying at the National Academy with James Childs and then at the Arts Students League.  Ron Sherr, was a great inspiration to her and she studied with him between 1998 and 2006..  She has painted adults, children, and animals as well as landscapes and seascapes ever since.  She has also studied with Nelson Shanks, Daniel Greene,  and  Raymond Everett Kinstler at the Art Student’s League.
